CBS News recently reported on a tragic incident involving the drowning of a woman and two children at the southern border near Eagle Pass, Texas. The Biden administration initially claimed that Texas officials had prevented U.S. Border Patrol agents from providing emergency assistance to the drowning migrants. They accused the Texas National Guard of seizing control of a park in Eagle Pass, preventing Border Patrol from accessing the area. However, the Department of Justice later confirmed that the migrants had already drowned an hour before the Texas National Guard was even informed of the situation. The Biden administration’s false narrative about the drowning migrants is similar to the misinformation about Border Patrol agents “whipping” Haitian illegal immigrants in 2021. These false narratives highlight the importance of supporting and sharing trusted news sources.
