Dolly Parton recently broke her silence on the “Exes and Ohs” singer Elle King’s drunken celebrity performance at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Last month, King took the stage at the Ryman Auditorium to perform the Parton song “Marry Me.” Unfortunately, it was clear that King was not in a good state to perform, and she openly admitted to being drunk.

King has since received a lot of criticism for her behavior, but Parton is coming to her defense. Parton called King a great artist and a great girl, and she asked fans to forgive her for her drunken performance and move forward. In a tweet shared by Celebrities Anniversary Today, and article titled, “Dolly Parton Breaks Silence on Elle King’s Tribute Incident !!!” was shared.

During the January 19 Grand Ole Opry concert, King not only seemed to be drunk but also insulted the audience, used profanity, and forgot the lyrics to the Dolly Parton song she was supposed to sing.

King has performed publicly before and admitted to drinking before going on stage. She said that drinking makes her less nervous about hitting the right notes when she sings.
