Elon Musk, CEO of Video X, pressed Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) to clarify which country she represents after a new video surfaced of her allegedly referring to Somali leader Hassan Sheikh Mohamud as “our President.” The controversial video, which comes after another video suggesting her allegiance to Somalia, has led to calls for her expulsion from Congress. In the latest video, Omar is seen introducing Mohamud at the Minneapolis Convention Center on December 15th, 2022, speaking to the crowd in the Somali language and referring to him as “our President.” Musk responded to the video by demanding that she “pick one” country to represent. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also called for her expulsion, denaturalization, and deportation. Despite criticism, Omar has denied the translation of her comments while admitting to struggling with the language herself. Omar, who moved to the United States as a refugee from Somalia in 1995, has been the Representative for Minnesota’s 5th congressional district.
