In the wake of the terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel in early October and the war in Gaza that continues to rage, the head of the FBI says the US is highly susceptible to terrorist attacks right now. Possibly more than ever before.

FBI’s Wray: ‘I’ve never seen a time where all the threats or so many of the threats are all elevated, all at exactly the same time’

Americans who lived through the late 1990’s and the following War on Terror have heard this “unprecedented threat” claim many, many times over the years. Is it really true this time? Fox News reports:

FBI Director Christopher Wray testified Tuesday that the terror threat facing the United States has reached unprecedented levels since the Oct. 7 attack on Israel. …

“What I would say that is unique about the environment that we’re in right now in my career is that while there may have been times over the years where individual threats could have been higher here or there than where they may be right now, I’ve never seen a time where all the threats or so many of the threats are all elevated, all at exactly the same time,” the FBI director replied. …

“So, blinking red lights analogy about 9/11 — all the lights were blinking red before 9/11, apparently,” Graham continued. “Obviously, all of us missed it. Would you say there’s multiple blinking red lights out there?” he asked.

“I see blinking red lights everywhere,” Wray answered.

Considering the state of the southern border, and illegal aliens from the Middle East, Africa, East Asia, and everywhere else on the planet are able to simply walk into the country, and there is clearly a recipe for disaster. The report added, “He [Wray] later told Graham that since the Oct. 7 massacre in Israel, when Hamas terrorists brutally murdered at least 1,200 Israelis, a ‘veritable rogue’s gallery of foreign terrorists’ has called for attacks against the U.S.” “The threat level has gone to a whole nother level since Oct. 7,’ Wray emphasized.”

After 9/11, many wondered how intelligence could have failed so badly. History.com notes, “For most Americans (and those around the world), the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 came as a shock. But for American and international investigators, warning signs of the attack had been brewing for more than a decade.”

Will future terrorist attacks be prevented?

We now know that Israeli authorities had knowledge of the October 7 terrorist attack by Hamas for nearly a year. Will American authorities be able to prevent terrorist attacks on the U.S. during this time of high tension? We can only hope so – but it’s also hard to ignore their colossal failures of the past. As long as the southern border invites the entire world, safety is just a matter of time.
