The former late night host Jay Leno broke his own rule last week when he revealed that he is “not a fan” of the former President Trump. However, he also spoke out against Democrats for trying to keep Trump off the ballot. While appearing on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Leno was asked by host Piers Morgan about what he thinks about Trump. “I’m not a fan,” Leno replied, going on to rip Democrat attempts to keep Trump off the ballot, saying, “I’m against that.” Morgan chimed in to say that those efforts are “anti-democratic,” and Leno agreed. “I just stopped doing politics in my act altogether. You know, when I did ‘The Tonight Show,’ the idea was you made fun of both sides equally,” Leno Previously Stayed Politically Neutral In this same interview, Leno opened up about his previous policy of staying politically neutral in public. “I just stopped doing politics in my act altogether. You know, when I did ‘The Tonight Show,’ the idea was you made fun of both sides equally,” he said. “They’d both be angry. And I’d go, ‘Oh, that’s good.’ You know, they both think you’re supporting the other guy.” “Now, you’ve gotta take a side, and people are angry if you don’t,” he added, going on to say that now, people “want to know the punchline before – is this pro or against – you know? Leno Discusses The Future At another point in the interview, Morgan asked Leno, “Do you worry about what may happen in this country in terms of the division, if Trump was to get reelected?” “Well, you get the government you deserve,” Leno replied. “I mean, that’s pretty much the way the world works, or at least ways America works, if that’s what people choose. Well, that’s that’s what’s going to happen, is it? So I don’t know, I would prefer it– I mean, it seems pretty calm now and the economy seems to be in pretty good shape. I sort of like the things Biden’s been doing. I think he’s done a really good job with the economy.” While we’re glad that Leno isn’t giving Democrats a complete free pass, we find it unfortunate that he chose to break his own rule about abstaining from talking politics by bashing Trump. Now, Leno has shown himself to be just another out of touch member of the liberal elite who mistakenly thinks that speaking out against Trump will somehow sway those who support the former president. What do you think about Leno’s remarks? Let us know in the comments section.
