Mitt Romney would be happy to vote for any of the Republican candidates, except Donald Trump and Vivek Ramaswamy. Romney revealed this during an interview with NBC’s Norah O’Donnell on the program Person to Person.
Romney mentioned that he would be happy to support anyone on the Republican side, other than Trump. He later added, “Maybe not Vivek.” He also stated that he would be happy to back several Democrats in the 2024 White House race. However, he did not name any specific Democrats.
Ramaswamy responded by expressing his belief that Romney opposes an “America First” agenda rather than a specific candidate. He also mentioned that he did not vote for Romney for president in 2012. Romaswamy has also called on Ronna McDaniel, the head of the Republican National Committee, to resign during a Republican presidential debate.
Trump, on the other hand, called Romney a “total loser that only a mother could love.” Trump endorsed Romney’s 2018 U.S. Senate campaign in Utah. In September, Romney announced he would not be seeking re-election for his senate seat in 2024. Trump expressed pride in having forced Romney out of politics, claiming he knew he couldn’t win in Utah without his endorsement and support.
Republican primary polling consistently showed Trump with a significant lead over other candidates, including Vivek Ramaswamy.
