The legendary former “Three’s Company” star Suzanne Somers passed away back in October one day before what would have been her 77th birthday following a decades-long battle with cancer. Now, her husband Alan Hamel, who she was married to for 46 years, is speaking out to say that he believes that her ghost is haunting their long-time home in Palm Springs, California.
“Three things happened. The same day, that were very strange,” Hamel, 87, told Page Six, adding that the first thing was “a hummingbird flew into our house and made the rounds in the kitchen, and the living room and the dining room.”
The bird then “hovered” in front of a framed picture of Hamel and Somers in their breakfast nook, and even “landed on top and stayed there.” In a second incident, “the fireplace started all by itself,” and the third thing was “some music came on by Suzanne’s favorite composer.”
Hamel went on to say that when he is falling asleep at night, “I feel her laying beside me.”
“Im a believer now that there is an afterlife,” Hamel explained. “Im convinced of it… I think theres something we dont understand. I think theres a plane somewhere… after we discard our bodies. We still have our soul. I think our soul is energy. The soul must go somewhere and do something.”
“The time when Im with my family… and I have one of my moments when I have to leave, I go into the bedroom… Im alone there,” he continued. “And I feel her presence. Once I interact with her presence, I go back and interact with the family. Her grandkids, one by one, have told me the same thing. “I hope its all true. It certainly makes the grieving process a lot easier. If it is, well be reunited.”
Hamel then said that he and Somers talked about the possibility of an afterlife when she was still alive.
Somers died in October after a 23 year battle with breast cancer.
“Suzanne Somers passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of October 15th. She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years,” her publicist said in a statement shared on behalf of Somers’ family at the time.
“Suzanne was surrounded by her loving husband Alan, her son Bruce, and her immediate family,” the statement continued. “Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on October 16th. Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly.”
