Assuming the country music star Toby Keith died on Monday night at the age of 62 after struggling with stomach cancer. There are new details about his death.
“Toby Keith passed away on February 5th, surrounded by family,” read a statement on Keith’s website. His statement addressed his battle with cancer. Keith announced back in 2022 that he had been privately battling stomach cancer for months.
“I lean on my faith and I just pray and lean into it,” Keith said last year. “You gotta’ do what you gotta’ do, and I don’t know how people do it without faith… that’s what I did, it was my rock.”
After his cancer diagnosis, Keith spoke at length about his family. “Everybody in the family is good,” he said at the time. “I was raised by good parents and I have great kids. They don’t have any issues at all – none.”
Despite the fact that he was a registered Independent, Keith gathered the courage to perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration in 2017. He was also awarded the National Medal of Arts by the former president.
