Yesterday, a new poll found that Taylor Swift may sway the 2024 election, with nearly one-fifth of voters supporting her candidate. Now, Megyn Kelly is questioning Swift’s political power and explaining why endorsing Joe Biden would be a mistake.
Kelly Sounds Off On Swift
Kelly scoffed at conservative fears of Swift’s political power, saying, “I don’t know why people are so afraid of her.” According to Kelly, Swift’s influence won’t matter in the long run. Even if Swift backs a liberal candidate, Kelly believes staying nonpolitical would be better for her in the long run.
“If she’s smart, she will stay nonpolitical, which is better for her,” Kelly said. “She will not be the most popular person in America if she continues to antagonize half the country that votes Republican, but whatever.”
This comes after a poll found that 18% of voters said they are “more likely” to vote for Swift’s preferred candidate. Another 17% said they would be less likely, while 55% said they would not be swayed by Swift’s endorsement.
Swift has long been known for being liberal and anti-Trump. She accused Trump of “stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism” following comments he made during protests over George Floyd’s death in 2020. As Swift becomes more liberal, Kelly has called for her to be boycotted, questioning her support for a charity event benefiting Gaza.
